Ranking of poker hands requires an introduction in to the basic systems of how each card is being ranked and also about how hands are formed.

• A-K-Q-J-T-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2 is order of cards from the high rank to the lowest rank.
• Ace has a dual role with being able to be the high and low rank.
• Ace-hi flushes are highly ranked than Ace-hi straights.

Poker basics regarding to what makes a Poker hand suggest:-
• Pair – Combinations like 22, 33, 44, 55, 66, 77, which is two cards of the same rank irrespective of suit. In any games if there is going to be a tie between pairs the ranking of the pairs if considered. 77 is high ranked than 22 and likewise.
• No Pair – Unrelated cards that are not pairs. These are good in seven card stud eight or better games because pairs kill your chances of winning.  You need to feel happy if your opponents’ face card has that card, which can pair with yours as you are less likely to be dealt with a pair.
• Three-of-a-Kind - Three cards of the same rank.
• Four-of-Kind - Four cards of the same rank.
• Straight – Serial order of ranks refers to straight like 5-6-7-8-9
• Flush –Cards of the same suit form a flush.
• Royal flush – Same suit face cards like A-K-Q-J-T called royal flush.
• Straight flush- Any straight that have similar suits.
• Full House – Has three of a kind and a pair.

Ranking of poker hands begins right from the starting hands that are dealt to each player based on what scope each hand has with winning. Ranking of poker hands varies based on the kind of game you are playing. Every starting hand should be played according to table image and improvement through subsequent draws! Either the high or low hand splits the pot.  In some games high and low shares the pot.

• Face and high card pairs.
• Ace with suited high cards
• Suited face cards
• Ace with king
• Faces with 10 and suited cards
• Pairs of medium rank cards
• Low pairs
• Ace with low suited
• Low suited connectors.

Ranking of poker hands in Omaha games in relation to playable starting hands from high to low:-
• Trips of Aces and Trips of Deuces with low cards
• Pair of Aces with two low cards
• Pair of Aces with suited cards
• Ace with deuce and anything
• Ace with three and anything
• 4 low cards that are not a pair
• Two high pair of different suits.

• 3 cards to flush with 2 face cards
• 3 cards to straight flush
• 3 small cards to flush
